Nevada Opera Association has thrived in Reno for over forty years. Founders Ted and Deena Puffer account for a great deal of our success. The commitment and connections they brought to Reno in 1968 enabled this fledgling company to soar to great heights in its early years. Ted and Deena Puffer's work lives on: dozens of their opera translations are still in use today and singers they trained, including Dolora Zajick and Evelyn de la Rosa, perform on stages around the globe.

Artistic Directors inspire the same level of passion and dedication from everyone associated with Nevada Opera. Talented artists, musicians and production crew members come together to stage larger than life stories set to breath-taking music. An equally committed board of directors, office staff and crew of volunteers handles the business side of the house.
And opera is the grandest art of all - combining singers and musicians, dancers and actors with sets, costumes, props and special effects to tell stories in a way that no other art form can match. This also makes it one of the most expensive art forms - and ticket holders and donors to Nevada Opera complete the picture. Even when we sell out our performances, ticket sales only cover about 30% of the costs of production.
