NVO’s new program for kids tweens & teens will produce musicals to be performed by kids for kids. These musicals are written specifically for young voices in a hip and modern style that is accessible to young adults ages 7 to 18. The first production will be The Great Grey Ghost of Old Spook Lane by Anne Phillips during NVO’s Summer Festival and Artown. The second will be The Dream Shaper by emerging composer Dan Henry Bohler, and will be presented at Christmas with his new opera Jack and the Beanstalk.
NVO is planning to partner with schools like Sarah Winnemucca Elementary School for their new summer festival in collaboration with RTB and Dolora Zajick’s Institute for Dramatic Voices. Each year, new music for young adults, seniors and everyone in between will be presented in conjunction with NVO’s Program for Emerging Artists and Young Artists.
NVO will be partnering with Moms4Music, an upstart company working to introduce tots to rhythm and melody with the goal of improving future scholastic success.
