The Nevada Opera Youth Chorus (NOYC) is a high caliber community chorus in Reno, Nevada. Students in this ensemble are given opportunities to perform in main stage opera productions that include children’s choruses, as well as performing with local orchestras and other ensembles, caroling, and performing their own winter and spring concerts.
Our mission is to have a strong focus on age appropriate vocal production, the building of stage presence and performance skills, encouraging professional deportment on and off stage, gaining music literacy skills and instilling a life-long appreciation for all genres of high quality literature including opera, musical theater, multicultural music, folk music, the classics, and more.
NOYC is open to all children ages 8-18 who desire to sing with a highly accomplished group. All singers are required to audition for NOYC prior to membership. Our singers are students from public schools, private and parochial schools, as well as those who participate in homeschooling. We audition singers twice a year for membership (September and January). The tuition for students accepted into the NOYC program is $200 per year plus the cost of the uniform. We also have a scholarship program available for singers and do not turn anyone away for financial difficulties. If you know of any interested singers, please share this site or contact us for more information.
After an evening of very entertaining and successful auditions, Nevada Opera is pleased to welcome four new promising singers into our Chorus: Jack Bibeau (bass), Jesse Briggs (soprano), Roshanna Elwing (soprano), and Amanda Marvel (mezzo) will all be joining the esteemed Nevada Opera Chorus this season.
