A recent OPERA America survey shows that the earlier young people are exposed to opera, the more likely they are to fall in love with it and become regular opera goers.  We have many ways for students to learn more:

Nevada Opera Youth Chorus offers kids from ages 8 to 13 professional vocal training as well as performance opportunities.  Auditions are held in the spring and fall (at the beginning of each school semester).  If you are interested in auditioning please contact us at the Nevada Opera office.  NOYC kids have performed at events ranging from a rally with former President Jimmy Carter to the Christmas Tree Lighting for the City of Reno.  Check the events calendar for their next performance.  If you would like to have the Nevada Opera Youth Chorus  perform at your event or function, contact us directly to make arrangements.

Viva Kids! is a 12-week program designed to introduce elementary school students to the world of expression through art, music and opera.  This powerful course reinforces classroom lectures in critical thinking, problem solving and self-expression.  After being introduced to this amazing art form, students draw form their own experiences to write and perform their own opera.  See performances by past student groups.
