A native of Reno, Nevada, mezzo-soprano Karen Solaegui-Lyman performed the roles of the Third Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Bianca in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, and the Infermiera in Puccini’s Suor Angelica during her time at the University of Minnesota. In addition, she has been featured in the roles of Marcellina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Kate in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly on the Nevada Opera’s main stage. She also aids in the company’s community outreach efforts, performing the role of Betty in the children’s, short opera House and as a soloist in the Company’s annual Opera in Blue Jeans.
Most recently Karen had a number of solo and ensemble rioles in NVO's Jukebox Unhinged. She will be seen as Jack in the January, 2013 world premiere of Jack and the Beanstalk.
