Nevada Opera has a rich history… and an equally rich future. In this 44th season we are embarking on our most ambitious programming effort to date — The Puccini Project — a long-term exciting commitment to present one of the great operas by Puccini during each season leading up to our 50th anniversary. In the 2017-2018 season, Nevada Opera will celebrate its 50th anniversary by presenting the same repertoire that founder Ted Puffer programmed his first year: Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Verdi’s Rigoletto. This season’s exciting production of Madame Butterfly launches our first installment of The Puccini Project, as Nevada Opera celebrates its Countdown to 50!
The Nevada Opera Association’s mission is to produce opera of the highest professional quality for the enrichment and entertainment of communities in Nevada and throughout the Sierra Nevada region and to offer outstanding educational and outreach programs to students and performance opportunities to emerging artists.
