Nevada Opera's mission statement has always been to Educate, Enlighten, Enrich and Entertain the people of Nevada and the Sierra Nevada through live opera performances and education programs of uncompromised quality and by providing the highest quality opera productions to the broadest possible audience and fostering the appreciation and understanding of opera as a significant cultural force.

• Nevada Opera was founded in 1968 by Ted and Deena Puffer.
• Lean staffing focuses on performers:
  • Voluntary board
  • Approximately 30 regular volunteers from the Nevada Opera Guild
  • Two full-time, one part-time staffing
  • One of the full-time staff is also the full-time Artistic Director
• Every production we employ a variety of local people:
  • approximately 52 local singers
  • 40-50 local musicians
  • 15-20 technical crew members
